For some reason it took a long time before this wine let all their flavours loose. It was decanter times almost like as for a well aged red wine. Once taken-off, in the nose I could feel of grass, yellow and white flowers, citrus fruits like lemon and lime.
Having a zip it came along lot's of salt and quite much minerals, it gave a clear and pleasant mineral taste. Then came the white and yellow flowers, with slight impressions of caramel and honey at the end. A neat sensation of softness and a pleasant velvety sensation. It was a quite strong pseudo-warm sensation. The persistence of the tastes was more than Quite Persistent I would say, which takes the judgement to Persistent, with more than 7 seconds lasting.
Sometimes during this tasting session this Fiano di Avellino reminded me of a Riesling, due to the impressions/tastes of flowers, honey and the crisp citrus. Fiano di Avellino gives a definite sensation of freshness, causing quite abundant salivation.
A very good wine for a plate of "frutti di mare" or shellfish. In the same time you don't need any food at all with this wine, you have the same pleasure of this Fiano di Avellino on it's own, just zip and enjoy!
