These Nebbiolo grapes on a altitude of 330 m above sea level, on hills with direction south-southwest for the sun exposure. The terrain consists of 50% sand, 35% silt and 15% clay. Using Guyot technique. They have about 4500 plants per hectar. Medium age of a plant is 30 years. Taking out about 5600 liters of wine per hectar. A bunch of grapes weighs about 1.8 kg more or less. The grapes are normally harvested in middle of October.
It's a limpid wine, garnet red like pomegranate seeds, unusual much for it's young age. It has fairly quick tears and legs of medium size, quite consistent.
The nose would describe this Langhe Nebbiolo as quite intense, with impressions of red and dark fruit (cherry, black berry, blue berry), red flowers (roses), and graphit (pencil led). After some inhalations I would say the wine has a medium range of odorous nuances, a quite complex wine. This Nebbiolo possesses a pleasant scent, medium intensity and widespread of nuances, quite fine!
Zipping the wine tells me it's dry, warm, tannic, quite soft, quite fresh, quite tasty. It has a remarkable balance for it's age, has a good structure, quite persistent and quite fine for it's age, which would make it almost fine...
The evolutionary state is between young and ready, more close to ready I would say.
As written earlier, this wine has come far for it's age, it's between quite harmonius to harmonius.
I would have this Langhe Nebbiolo 2008 to both white and red meat, and also with pasta and mushrooms, or spicy vegetables like asparagus and broccoli. I tried it with very good result together with "Porchetta" (pork meat role with rosemary), and pasta with broccoli in olive oil.
Dark chocolate with maximum 60% of cacao, and medium aged cheeses like "pecorino stagionato" (sheep cheese).
