This is a little brother to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano called Rosso di Montepulciano, and gives often even more value for money. The family of Crociani has a wide repertoar of wines, produced on their vineyard which is about 10 ha, in neighbourhood of Le Caggiole, outside Montepulciano. They produce about 20 000 bottles every year of this Rosso di Montepulciano, depending on the outcome of the harvest. The bottles for selling you could find in their more than 300 years old wine cellar up in the historical center of Montepulciano.

Crociani uses a relative long fermentation time, 18-22 days, which is typical for the region and type of wine they are making. The ageing is beeing made through 7-8 months of storage in big oak barrels.

It has a vivid ruby red colour, limpid. In the nose comes a lot of red and purple flowers like roses and violets, backuped with shades of liqorice. The mouth tells you it's a dry fruity wine, quite tasty and quite tannic at the end I would say.

It's a harmonius wine, in balance, ready to be drinken now. Eventually the tannins could be a little bit more softer with more time, but on the other hand I think the general intensity of the wine would go down a little bit.

I would have this wine to pork meat, starters like salami and mortadella, first dishes like pasta with mushrooms, vegetables, white and red meat, desserts like young pecorino (sheep) cheese and sweet chocolate.

Recommended serving temperature 16-18 degrees.
