Piccole Elegiae has a deep ruby red colour, discrete limpid, relative high consistency. It was less complex in the nose than I expected, but maybe it needs more time in the cellars. I found some red and dark fruit, etheral, vanilla, and red roses. On the palette it's intense, persistent, dry (but very fruity), fresh, good portion of salt and minerals, gentle tannins and good warmth. I found tastes like red-blue-black fruit, vanilla, black pepper, violet, anise and caramel. Aging of the wine has been in steel-tanks and 6 months in oak-barrels (with 30% of the volume in used American oak barriques).
My favourite dish with this Piccole Elegiae was veal spiced with rosemary, salt and black pepper. And as a first dish it wasn't bad with pasta, fenel, garlic, onions and balsamic winegar. Try it with some chicken, turkey or pheasant. Have it at the end of the dinner with some aged cheeses like Pecorino and Parmesan. Serve it within 16-18 C° range.
I think the Piccole Elegiae will stand a storage of 5-7 years in the cellar.
