David Migliorini has a long term experience in doing an excellent Chianti Classico! He started with his father Romano Migliorini at Fattoria Montagliari close to Panzano in Chianti, and now he is doing great Chianti Classicos at Villa Verdimonti close to Gaiole in Chianti, a bit south of Panzano. Verdimonti has around 25 ha of vines, more or less on 400 m abouve sea level. The first vines were planted here in 1972. Verdimontis soil is very rich on calcium and minerals. The Migliorini family uses Guyot and Cordone Speronato as the main techniques for trimming and attaching the vines. From the Villa Verdimonti you also have a quite good overview of the town of Gaiole, and if you are up early the first Sunday in October you may be lucky to see the departure of the vintage cycle race l'eroica! Turn around and you can see the famous castle Meleto with it's characteristic round towers.

David's Chianti Classico from 2015 makes a good impact with it's flavours like mature red fruit, blueberry, black currant, anis, dark chocolate and red roses in the nose. The tannins are classic Chianti Classico, they don't pass unnoticed, still quite behaved! The wine spends about 30 months in oak barrels medium sized. Try also their Chianti Classico Riserva for some more complexity, rounded tannins and full body. Verdimonti makes a great rosè wines as well, great for any day!

Verdimonti also has vines of Trebbiano, Malvasia, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah (Shiraz).

To David's Chianti Classico I would recommend it to a dish with home made pasta and newly harvested mushrooms. A dish with meat would be a wild boar stew, together with some polenta and parmesan.
