Three of the four wines currently produced by Cantina Bastianelli in Monte San Pietrangeli (FM). A blackcurranty Merlot, a dry yet fruity Sangiovese and a balsamic Montepulciano. All carry IGT Marche denomination and are lovingly hand-crafted at this low-volume family-run winery. Cin-cin!
The first three of six wines from Archipelago Muratori. The Cesonato Franciacorta DOCG is bursting with white flower and fresh bread scents, fruity and honey tastes. Pelike is a Fiano Sannio DOC with a golden yellow colour and a tropical fruit nose! The Barricoccio (R) is matured in terracotta barrels and suggests ripe cherries and freshness. Cin-cin!
Fattoria La Maliosa is an organic farm in Tuscany. Among other things, they produce two wines: Bianco Maremma Toscana IGT and Rosso Maremma Toscana IGT. They are natural in every sense: from cultivation methods to corking.
Ferrara may not be the hub of Italian wine production, but last Friday evening, it hosted a small gathering of wine producers with one thing in common: they all use biological methods from start to finish! In the beautiful setting of the Ex-Borsa, opposite the Estense Castle, I was fortunate enough to taste a few of these wines... Cin-cin!
The final part of our #Vinitaly experience. Wines come from Emilia Romagna (Manaresi), Sicilia (Donnafugata) and Colli Tortonesi (Cascina I Carpini). What a wonderful way to finish a marvellous day! Cin-cin!
The first part of our day (Wineword Italy and Miss Wineword Italy) at #Vinitaly 2012. Featured wines are from Veneto region and come from Fattoria Eolia (Rovolon), Giovanni Ederle (Verona) and Rubinelli Vajol (Valpolicella). Cin-cin!
The first really 'international' tasting from Wineword Italy. (Although some Slovenian wines featured in my report from Terroirvino 2011). Three Garnatxa Negra-based wines from Scala Dei in the Priorat winegrowing district of Catalonia, Spain. Negre 2010 is a bright, young and fresh fruity wine, ideal with cured hams or pasta dishes. Prior 2008 is oak barrel-matured and suggests dark fruits and warm spices. Good with creamy cheeses, casseroles...
Bruma d'Autunno 2006 is a 100% Barbera from Cascina I Carpini. It combines cherry and plum with warm sweet spice scents and has a finish like home-made fruit cake! Enjoy it with roast beef, braised meat and mushrooms or pasta bake. Cin-cin!
